Part1. What is dogwood extract?
Cornus officinalis is also known as Shuzao, medicinal jujube, jujube skin, and dogwood. It was first recorded in "Shen Nong's Materia Medica". It is the ripe pulp of Cornus officinale Macrocarpium off-icinale (Sieb. et Zucc.) Nakai. The fruit of Cornus officinalis contains morolicin, 7-0-methylmoronicoside, glucoside, glucoside, dogwood glucoside or verbenin, dogwood tannins, ursolic acid, gallic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and carotene etc.

Cornus officinalis extract is yellow or brownish yellow powder, which has the functions of nourishing the liver and kidney, astringent essence and detoxification. It has inhibitory effect on pathogenic bacteria. The injection can strengthen the heart, boost blood pressure, inhibit platelet aggregation, and resist thrombosis. It has anti-experimental liver damage effect. For the decrease of white blood cells caused by chemotherapy and radiation therapy, it can increase the effect. And has antioxidant effect. There is a weak excitatory parasympathetic effect. The contained substance has astringent effect.

Both water and alcohol extracts of Cornus officinalis can inhibit the proliferation of A549 cells and induce cell apoptosis.
3. Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects:
Cornus officinalis extract has strong antibacterial activity, and the extract has better antibacterial effect on bacteria under the condition of pH<7, which is obviously stronger than potassium sorbate.
4. Other functions:
Cornus officinalis extract also has the effects of obviously promoting immune response, anti-arrhythmia, anti-oxidation, anti-aging, liver protection and so on.
